Upcoming Advisory Meeting for Naturally Occurring Asbestos in Construction

In response to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board's decision on May 17, 2018 to GRANT Petition No. 568, the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) will convene an advisory meeting to consider development of a rulemaking proposal addressing work with naturally occurring asbestos in the construction industry. Subjects such as classification of work, methods of compliance, hygiene facilities and practices, training, and competent persons will be discussed. Cal/OSHA plans to hold its first advisory meeting in 2019 or the first half of 2020.
