California Workplace Outreach Project (CWOP)
The California Workplace Outreach Project (CWOP) under the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) marks a significant evolution in its mission, expanding its focus to encompass a broader range of worker protections outlined in California's labor code and workplace health and safety regulations.
Initially launched in 2020 to address COVID-19-related workplace concerns, CWOP's latest phase pivots toward ensuring comprehensive access to education on workers' rights and safety, and benefits for workers who suffer work-related injuries or illnesses equipping employees with the tools to act when their rights are violated. This strategic shift is designed to enhance workplace safety across the state empowering community-based organizations (CBOs) as trusted advocates to deliver vital information on worker protections and health measures. Through this fifth iteration, we combined two years of funding to ensure program continuity. CWOP builds on the solid foundation of its earlier efforts, strengthening its commitment to protecting California's workforce.

Primary Objective
To promote and educate California communities on their labor rights, safety and health in the workplace, and benefits for workers who suffer work-related injuries or illnesses in the workplace.
CWOP is eager to build on the invaluable lessons learned and the successes achieved in past initiatives, renewing its commitment to cultivating an informed, safe, and healthy workplace culture throughout California. This initiative seeks not only to educate but also to ignite action and drive change in workplace rights and safety practices. Our goal is to empower every worker with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect themselves and their colleagues, fostering a strong sense of safety and well-being in every work environment.
