Timeliness of FROI Reporting

The Workers’ Compensation Information System (WCIS) collects First Reports of Injury (FROI) and Subsequent Reports of Injury (SROI) submitted electronically by claims administrators and their trading partners. The California EDI Implementation Guide for First and Subsequent Reports of Injury (FROI/SROI), Version 3.1, requires all FROIs be submitted within 10 business days of the date of claim administrator knowledge.

To measure timeliness of FROI reporting, WCIS calculates the number of business days between the date the FROI was initially reported to the claims administrator and the date the FROI was transmitted to WCIS.

Statewide FROI Timeline - % of on-time and late FROID Submissions - Average and Median Business Days per FROID - 2010-2020 Year of Claims Administrator Knowledge Late %, On time %, Median Days, Average Days

* Due to late reporting of FROIs it is expected that the average number of days to report for later years to increase.
