Showcasing Apprenticeship Success Stories During National Apprenticeship Week
In a heartwarming celebration of achievements and dedication, Michael’s Transportation Services (MTS) hosted a joyous graduation ceremony held on October 12th at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo. MTS graduating class of 2024 consisted of 31 apprentice graduates as bus drivers and school special clients. The event brought together families, friends, program staff, and industry leaders to celebrate the graduates and recognize the vital role of registered apprenticeships in workforce development. Alana Shackelford, Ed.D. Chief Partnerships & Community Engagement Officer shared, “It is with great pride and joy that we gather here today to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our graduates from the Class A, Class B, School Bus, Verification Transit Training (VTT), Apprenticeship Program for School Bus Drivers, and Farmworkers Advancement Program (FAP)”.
Michael Brown, Owner and CEO, found a need for classroom service training and in partnership with the Division of Apprenticeship Standards developed a registered apprenticeship program. This program is one of the success stories coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic due to a surge of in demand essential workers, including bus drivers, who kept our communities moving. All of MTS class of 2024 graduates have secured employment in their chosen fields, with many working as school bus drivers at local school districts throughout the northern and central valley. Congratulations to Michael’s Transportation Services Apprenticeship program, to the instructors who provide the training, and all graduates!
