The U.S. Department of Labor Opens $95 Million Solicitation for the Apprenticeship Building America Grant Round 2 Grant
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has announced the Biden-Harris Administration recently announced the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to solicit applications for a second round of the Apprenticeship Building America (ABA2) grant program. The second round of the ABA2 makes $95 million available to expand registered apprenticeships.
ABA2 provides funding for three categories of grants:
- Ensuring Equitable RAP Pathways and Partnerships Through Pre-apprenticeship Leading to Registered Apprenticeship Programs Enrollment.
- Creation of Education System-aligned Pre-apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs)
- Registered Apprenticeship Hubs.
The alignment of Governor Newsom’s Career Education Master Plan and the DOL’s efforts underscore the national recognition of leveraging registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship as key to workforce development while ensuring that people from underrepresented and underserved communities have onramps to high-paying and fulfilling career paths that don’t require college degrees.
