Public Records Act (PRA) Requests

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, the public has the right to inspect or obtain a copy of any identifiable public record, except those records that are legally exempt from public disclosure.

DWC has implemented an online Public Records Request system to make it easier to submit, track, and receive responses to PRA requests:

Through the portal, you can:

  • Create a secure account
  • Submit a new PRA request
  • Upload supporting documents
  • Track the status of your request
  • Pay for your requested records
  • Receive responses and documents electronically

DWC has provided a written guide to assist users with submitting PRA requests via the portal.

Other ways to request public records

If you are unable to use the online portal, you may submit a copy of DWC’s PRA Request Form to your local DWC Public Records Act coordinator.

For information on how to properly serve subpoenas on DWC, including service locations and requirements, visit: Service of subpoenas on the Division.
