Description

As required by Labor Code section 147.4(c), the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board will be convening a series of advisory committee meetings to assist Board staff in reviewing revisions to the the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards pertaining to personal protective equipment. The committee will review the latest editions of the following NFPA standards that relate to sections 3401-3407 and 3410-3411:

  • NFPA 1851, Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting
  • NFPA 1971, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting
  • NFPA 1877, Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Wildland Firefighting Protective Clothing and Equipment
  • NFPA 1977, Standard on Protective Clothing and Equipment for Wildland Fire Fighting and Urban Interface Fire Fighting
  • NFPA 1500, Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety, Health, and Wellness Program, Chapter 7, Protective Clothing and Protective Equipment
Cal/OSHA’s advisory committee review of the NFPA standards will be focused on respiratory protection.
