January Deadline Approaching for Equal Representation in Construction Apprenticeship Grant

Oakland—The California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and its Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) remind interested applicants of the Equal Representation in Construction Apprenticeship (ERiCA) Grant that the deadline to apply is January 12, 2023. DAS has posted details on its webpage about how organizations working to increase access to construction trades jobs for women and other underserved populations can submit proposals.

“This funding opportunity is game-changing for women and other historically-underserved groups in the construction trades,” said DIR Director Katie S. Hagen. “We encourage all qualifying organizations to apply for this grant.”

In October, DIR announced the availability of $25 million in funding through the ERiCA grant to improve access to training and employment opportunities for women, non-binary and underserved populations within the building and construction trades. Grant funds will be used to cover childcare costs and improve outreach.

An informational teleconference took place on December 6, where questions from the public about the grant were answered. For any additional questions about the grant, please email DASGrantUnit@dir.ca.gov.

The Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Apprenticeship Standards consults with employers to develop a skilled workforce, by establishing innovative apprenticeship programs that offer training, to create viable career pathways for Californians.
