Wage and Benefit Survey
In San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties

The Department of Industrial Relations received a petition to review the rates for Driver (On/Off-Hauling To/From Construction Site)/Mixer Truck work1 in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties from the Heavy, Highway, Building and Construction Teamsters Committee for Northern California. The Department determined that this appeal is valid and therefore an investigation to update the prevailing wage determinations is warranted. Consistent with the Director of Industrial Relations’ responsibility to determine the general rate of per diem wages to be paid to workers employed on public works projects, the Department is conducting a survey of hauling and delivery of ready-mixed concrete in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties.

If you are an entity that performs hauling and delivery of ready-mixed concrete from a factory or batch plant to a construction site and you have performed work in San Francisco, San Mateo, and/or Santa Clara Counties during the period of December 15, 2019 through December 14, 2020, we are collecting information through a Wage and Benefit questionnaire which will assist us in determining the prevailing wage rate for the craft of Driver (On/Off-Hauling To/From Construction Site)/Mixer Truck.

If you performed work that matches the above description and would like to receive a copy of the survey questionnaire, then please provide your employer name and mailing address to the Office of the Director – Research Unit at pwsurvey@dir.ca.gov.  Upon receipt of this information, we will mail you a copy of the questionnaire. 

Please complete and return the questionnaire to the Office of the Director – Research Unit no later than March 12, 2021. Please be advised that the information you provide will be used for statistical purposes only and will be kept confidential to the fullest extent permitted by law.

1  Driver (On/Off-Hauling To/From Construction Site)/Mixer Truck is defined as a worker engaged in the hauling and delivery of ready-mixed concrete from a factory or a batching plant to construction project locations. Ready-mixed concrete means concrete that is manufactured in a factory or a batching plant, according to a set recipe, and then delivered in a liquefied state by mixer truck (excluding cement trucks or volumetric mixers) for immediate incorporation into a project (excluding any work performed at the job site).
