CHSWC Releases 2022 Annual Reports

Reports Include Recommendations to Improve Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation Systems and one to Evaluate the Worker Occupational Safety and Health Training and Education Program (WOSHTEP)

The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation (CHSWC) has released two annual reports, one for the Commission’s work and one to evaluate the Worker Occupational Safety and Health Training and Education Program (WOSHTEP).

  • CHSWC’s 2022 annual report, the Commission’s 28th, presents information about the health and safety and workers’ compensation systems in California and makes recommendations to improve their operations. It highlights recent legislative and regulatory updates, shows numerical and graphical trends over time and presents research that examines topics of interest to Commissioners and system stakeholders.
  • WOSHTEP was created in 2002 to reduce job-related injuries and illnesses among California workers. The program’s labor-management Advisory Board prepares an annual report to evaluate the development and impact of its activities, including partnerships with employers, workers and insurance. The CHSWC-administered program includes inter-agency agreements with the Labor Occupational Health Program (LOHP) at the University of California, Berkeley, the Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety (WCAHS) at the University of California, Davis, and the Labor Occupational Safety and Health Program (LOSH) at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Both reports are available on the CHSWC website. CHSWC is charged with examining the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California, and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. The Commission was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers' compensation system, the state's activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational illnesses, and to examine those programs in other states.

Information about CHSWC and CHSWC research reports and WOSHTEP is available on the CHSWC website. Information may also be obtained by writing to the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation by email to chswc@dir.ca.gov.
