OAKLAND-The California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation (CHSWC) announces the appointment of Sidharth Voorakkara to the Commission. He was appointed by the Senate Rules Committee on May 4, 2022.

Sidharth Voorakkara is Senior Vice President of the San Diego office of a national public relations and polling firm, Strategies 360. He is active in local civic organizations and currently serves as chair of the San Diego City Ethics Commission and as a member of the San Diego Community College Trustees Advisory Council.

Throughout his career, Voorakkara has worked collaboratively with communities, businesses, non-profits, foundations, workforce investment boards, trade associations and various stakeholders to promote investment in local businesses and to build pathways into high-wage, high-growth jobs for Californians.

His appointment fills the employer representative seat vacated by Mona Garfias, and his term extends through December 31, 2024. Additional information about CHSWC’s Commissioners is posted online.

CHSWC, created by the workers’ compensation reform legislation of 1993, is charged with examining the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. CHSWC was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers' compensation system and of the state's activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational illnesses and to examine those programs in other states.
