OAKLAND - The California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation (CHSWC) is pleased to announce the unanimous election of Commissioner Mitch Steiger as the Chair of the Commission for 2022. The election was held at the December 9, 2021 public CHSWC meeting held online due to ongoing Covid-19 pandemic precautions.

Mitch Steiger was appointed to the Commission in June 2019 and is a legislative advocate for the California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO. His role is to advocate on behalf of workers in a variety of issue areas, including occupational health and safety as well as workers’ compensation, and he previously participated in stakeholder discussions that produced reform, such as Senate Bill 863 of 2012.
