The Cal/OSHA enforcement unit has jurisdiction over every employment and place of employment in California which is necessary to adequately enforce and administer all occupational safety and health standards and regulations.
The Cal/OSHA enforcement unit conducts inspections of California workplaces in response to a report of an industrial accident, a complaint about an occupational safety and health hazard, or as part of an inspection program targeting industries which have a high rate of occupational hazards, fatalities, injuries or illnesses.
Report an accident or file a complaint
To report a workplace accident, or to file a complaint, contact the Cal/OSHA enforcement unit district office closest to the workplace where the accident occurred or the complaint conditions exist. Or, submit an online complaint form.
Cal/OSHA citation history
To see if a particular employer has a history of previous Cal/OSHA inspections or citations, conduct an establishment search on the OSHA Website.
High Hazard Industries list and High Hazard Employer Program
The Targeted Inspection and Consultation Fund (LC § 62.7 and 62.9) provides funding for the Targeted Inspection and Consultation Program. Under this Program, the Division is required to develop a Regional Plan for targeting employers in high hazard industries (Labor Code) §6314.1. The initial step in the Regional Plan for targeting high hazard employers is to produce an annual list of High Hazard Industries (pdf 9kb). The list is based on nonfatal lost-time incidence rates for Private Sector employers as provided by DLSR. Employers identified in the High Hazard Industry sectors may be contacted by Consultation's outreach program for high hazard employers or they may be subject to an inspection by High Hazard Compliance Unit.
