California Labor Commissioner, Cal/OSHA and the Division of Workers’ Compensation Join Community-Based Organizations and State Agencies for Labor Rights Caravan in Ventura County

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: California Labor Commissioner Lilia García-Brower held a press conference today to inform the farmworker community in Ventura County about paid sick leave, retaliation, heat illness prevention, injuries on the job, health and safety in the workplace and labor rights. Oxnard — The press conference today announced a labor rights caravan and workplace health and safety resource fair. The caravan is a collaboration between community-based organizations and state agencies to announce resources available to agricultural workers in Ventura County. The caravan went to multiple agricultural workplaces in Ventura County while delivering information to workers on the resources available to them.

The Labor Commissioner’s Office in 2020 launched an interdisciplinary outreach campaign, “Reaching Every Californian.” The campaign amplifies basic protections and builds pathways to vulnerable populations, providing critical information to workers and employers on legal protections and obligations, as well as the Labor Commissioner’s enforcement procedures.
