The California Labor Federation has petitioned the Occupational Safety and Heath Standards Board (Board) requesting specific revisions to Title 8 California Code of Regulations section 5110, Repetitive Motion Injuries (RMIs). As part of the petition process staff from the Board and the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Division) will evaluate the petition. The Board will then consider the petition, the staff evaluations and all relevant information before deciding whether to grant or deny the petition. This meeting is being held to provide additional assistance to the Board as part of its evaluation process.

The overall focus of the meeting will be to address the basic issue underlying the petition, which is whether there is a necessity to revise section 5110, and to consider the merits of the petitioner's requested changes in that light. A corollary question to be considered is whether the Division's enforcement of section 5110 can be improved without making changes to the existing standard. The agenda is structured to bring out relevant information so that it can be summarized by the Division and presented to the Board.
