The DLSE Public Works Compliance Monitoring Unit (CMU) is hiring staff using the civil service process established for state employment. The CMU uses the following entry level classifications: Deputy Labor Commissioner I, Auditor I, Senior Special Investigator, Industrial Relations Counsel, Industrial Relations Representative, Office Technician and Office Assistant. If you are interested in employment with the CMU, you must first gain entrance to a civil service examination for which you qualify, successfully compete in the examination process and be placed on a hiring list. Hiring interviews for positions will take place as positions are established throughout the State. If you have indicated that you are willing to accept a position in a particular geographic area, you may be contacted for an interview.
The minimum qualifications to gain entrance into an exam for each of the positions listed above can be found at: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dirjobs/dirjobs.htm or http://jobs.ca.gov/OEC/index.aspx. Certain exams are given periodically throughout the year and a public announcement is made prior to the examination date.
A standard State application is required and is available at: http://www.spb.ca.gov/std678.pdf.
