Quick tips for using the active registration search tool
Tips on how to locate an active Public Works contractor registration with the active registration search tool:
- Search using only one term, preferably the License/Registration Number field using the Public Works contractor registration number (10-digit registration number). Leave the Contractor Legal Name field and other fields blank when searching just by registration number.
- When searching by Contractor Legal Name field, use the most distinct portion or just one word from the name. Be aware that businesses may be listed by the owner’s name, not the business name.
- If none of these methods work select the County where the job is located as your sole search criteria, and go through the list of contractors for that county. This is feasible for smaller counties, not larger ones like Los Angeles County. If it is a sole proprietor and you cannot find the company listed under the owner’s name, try searching for the business name.
