In accordance with Labor Code Sections 1173, 1176.1, 1176.3, and 1182 the Industrial Welfare Commission ("IWC") will hold a public meeting on Friday October 17, 2003, in Sacramento at the State Capitol, Senate Room 112 immediately following the IWC public hearing scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m

Public meeting agenda 1. Consideration and/or adoption of proposed amendments to Wage Order 9-2001, Section 11 "Rest Periods" and Section 12 "Meal Periods", as a result of the public hearings on proposed amendments previously put forth for public comment. The amendments propose to include previously excluded publicly employed drivers of commercial vehicles under the meal and rest period provisions of Wage Order 9-2001.

2. Consideration of a petition from the "Environmental Services Shared Governance Council of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital" requesting the Commission amend Section 11 "Meal Periods" of Wage Order 5-2001, "Public Housekeeping Industry", to read, "In the health care industry, however, if an employee is responsible for patient care, the employer and employee may agree to a meal period that occurs anytime during the employee's shift, so long as the employee receives a meal period of not less than 30 minutes in any shift that exceeds six hours".

3. Consideration of a petition from the "United Food & Commercial Workers Union, AFL-CIO & CLC" requesting the Commission amend Section 3 "Hours and Days of Work" of Wage Order 14-2001, "Agricultural Occupations" to require that workers in agricultural occupations receive the payment of daily overtime after completion of an eight (8) hour workday.

4. Any new business that may come before the IWC.
