If you have a disability and are using the services of the Division of Workers' Compensation you may be eligible for a reasonable accommodation. A reasonable accommodation is assistance given to disabled individuals to promote equal access to and participation in our programs and services. Those services include the Worker's Compensation Appeals Board, the Information and Assistance Unit and the Disability Evaluation Unit.
Accommodations or assistance for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Any person with a disability participating in DWC's programs or services may request as an accommodation an auxiliary aid or service, or a reasonable modification of policies or procedures.
Accommodations include, but are not limited to devices to assist those with hearing impairments, computerized translation, a sign language interpreter, documents in large print, in Braille or on computer disk, and audio cassette recording as needed. Accommodation requests should be made as soon as possible. Requests for an assistive listening device or computerized translation services should be made no later than five (5) days before the hearing.
Individuals requesting accommodations should contact the district office disability accommodation coordinator at the workers' compensation office where the individual's case is being heard.
Individuals requesting accommodations may also contact a district office disability accommodation coordinator at 1-866-681-1459 (toll free). A district office disability coordinator can also be reached through the California Relay Service, by dialing 711 or 1-800-735-2929 (TTY) or 1-800-855-3000 (TTY-Spanish).
