Wage Theft Protection Act

Assembly Bill 469 (Chapter 655, Statutes of 2011), also known as the Wage Theft Protection Act of 2011, went into effect on January 1, 2012, and adds section 2810.5 to the Labor Code. The act requires that all employers provide each employee with a written notice containing specified information at the time of hire. The notice must be in the language the employer normally uses to communicate employment-related information to the employee. The bill also requires that the Labor Commissioner provide employers with a template that complies with the requirements of the notice. (Please see links to notices below.)
