§3404. Ear and Neck Protection and Protective Hood Interface.


(a) Protection against burns or injury to the ears and neck shall be provided by one or more of the following:
(1) Ear flap attachment to helmet;
(2) Hood or shroud.
(b) In-Service hood and coat collars shall be constructed and tested in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1971, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting, 2007 Edition, which is hereby incorporated by reference.
(c) Fabric and non-fabric materials of in-service protective ensembles shall meet the requirements of NFPA 1971, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting, 2007 Edition, which is hereby incorporated by reference.
