Article 15. Special Access Lifts
§3093.45. Emergency Devices.
(a) A telephone, which is connected to a central telephone exchange, shall be
installed in the car and an emergency signalling device, operable from inside
the car and audible outside the hoistway, shall be provided.
(b) All machines shall be provided with a means to lower the car in case of
power failure. The device shall be painted bright red or orange and shall have
suitable instructions for use and warnings about use affixed to the operating
means.
