NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
AND PUBLIC MEETING OF THE
INDUSTRIAL WELFARE COMMISSION

In accordance with Labor Code Sections 1173, 1177(b), 1178, and 1178.5, the Industrial Welfare Commission ("IWC") will hold a public hearing and a public meeting on December 7, 2001, in San Francisco at the Hiram Johnson State Building, Auditorium, 455 Golden Gate Avenue, commencing at 10:00 a.m. The public meeting will follow immediately after the public hearing.

PUBLIC HEARING

1. Investigative hearing regarding the effect of the May 30, 2001 opinion letter written by Miles Locker of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, on deductions from the salaries of administrative, executive, and professional employees that are otherwise eligible for the exemption from overtime compensation.

PUBLIC MEETING AGENDA

1. Approval of Minutes for the public meeting held October 29, 2001.

2. Consideration of individuals for appointment to the wage board established to consider modifications to Section 11 of Wage Order 1-2001 in order to permit a meal period to commence after six hours of work, and a possible charge to that wage board.

3. Consideration of and possible action on the Statement as to the Basis for amendments to Wage Order 5 regarding employees who have direct responsibility for children under eighteen (18) years of age receiving twenty-four (24) hour care.

4. Consideration and possible action with regard to investigative hearing on the effect of the May 30, 2001 opinion letter written by Miles Locker of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement on deductions from the salaries of administrative, executive, and professional employees that are otherwise eligible for the exemption from overtime compensation.

5. Any new business that may come before the IWC.
