In accordance with Labor Code Sections 1173, 1178.5 and 1181, the Industrial
Welfare Commission will conduct hearings for public comment on proposed regulations
regarding employees, covered by Wage Order 5-2001, with direct responsibility
for the elderly and adults with disabilities, receiving 24-hour care.
The IWC will hold public hearings in the following cities: in San Francisco
on April 17, 2003, in San Diego on April 21, 2003, and in Sacramento on April
23, 2003. All hearings will commence at 10:00 a.m.
AGENDA
Public comment on proposed amendments to Wage Order 5-2001, Section 3 "Hours and Days of Work", regarding exemption for employees of 24-hour non-medical out of home licensed residential facilities with direct responsibility for the developmentally disabled, elderly and mentally ill adults.
In order for the IWC to provide an opportunity for interested parties to speak at the public hearings, the amount of time within which each speaker will be allowed to address the IWC may be limited. Accordingly, the public is urged to submit written statements to the IWC concerning items on the agenda.
