Change to ambulance fee schedule of 4.3 percent will become effective Jan. 1, 2007

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has announced that the ambulance inflation factor for calendar year 2007 will be 4.3 percent. After the final rule adopting the 2007 ambulance inflation factor is published in the Federal Register, the CA Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) will adopt an order adjusting the ambulance services section of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) to conform to this change in the Medicare payment system as required by Labor Code section 5307.1. The increase of 4.3 percent will be effective for ambulance services rendered on or after Jan. 1, 2007, paid for under the California workers' compensation OMFS.
