Environmental and Hazardous Materials Technology

In this program, students will learn the necessary skills and knowledge to handle hazardous materials in a way that is in compliance with governmental regulations, while simultaneously protecting human health and the environment. The program is designed for students wishing to enter the field and for technicians who are already employed but who wish to upgrade their skills.
To earn a certificate of achievement, students must complete the required courses with a "C" grade or better. Most required courses are available in the evening. However, a few are only available in the day. Students may also earn an Associate of Arts degree.

EHMT 110 Hazard Waste Stream Generation, 3 Units
Reduction, and Treatment
EHMT 120 Health Effects of Hazardous Waste 3 Units
EHMT 140 Hazard Waste Management Applications 4 Units
EHMT 160 Environmental Hazardous Mtls Mangt 4 Units
EHMT 170 Safety & Emergency Response 4 Units

Plus at least 3 units from:
ENGL 130 Introduction to Technical Writing 3 Units
SPCH 120 Fundamentals of Speech 3 Units
