CHSWC Moves Forward on Workers’ Compensation Court Technology

SAN FRANCISCO – The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation (CHSWC) is moving forward in its efforts to implement new technology and improve the operation of the California workers’ compensation adjudication system.

At its meeting on February 28, CHSWC voted to contract for the state-required Feasibility Study Report to proceed with the design and implementation of new information technology for the California Division of Workers’ Compensation. CHSWC also released its report entitled "Briefing on the Use of Technology in the Courts" to the public.

The Commission, created by the workers' compensation reform legislation of 1993, is charged with overseeing the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. The Commission was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers' compensation system and of the state's activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational diseases and to examine those programs in other states.
