(Time noted: 10:02 a.m.)

COMMISSIONER ROSE: My name is Harold Rose, Commissioner Harold Rose, of the IWC. I'd like to call this public hearing to order.

By law, we have to hold three hearings for public comment, and this one here is on the proposed amendments to Wage Order 5, which is regarding overtime, meal periods, and rest periods.

We'll offer people in the audience an opportunity to speak, if they would like.

And seeing none, we do have the -- who's

there.

Bridget?

MS. BANE: I'd just -- yeah, I would -- my name is Bridget Bane. I'm the executive officer of the Industrial Welfare Commission.

This is a public meeting held to offer an opportunity for public comment on the amendments that were recommended unanimously by the wage board, which met on May 31st and July 18th of 2001.

There will be one more meeting in Sacramento. And after that, the full Commission will consider these amendments on the 29th of October.

Doug or Harold, where is that?

MR. McCONKIE: San Jose.

MS. BANE: In San Jose.

If you wish to have notification of that, I'm sure that, because you're here, you will be notified. And you're welcome to attend either the public meeting that will be held tomorrow or the Commission meeting which will be held on the 29th.

Apparently, public comment is really not coming forward, possibly because the wage board unanimously recommended these amendments.

And I have nothing else to report to you today, commissioner.

COMMISSIONER ROSE: That's it?

Doug, anything?

MR. McCONKIE: Nothing.

COMMISSIONER ROSE: Okay. With that, we'll adjourn the meeting and see those interested in Sacramento tomorrow morning, 10:00 a.m., Capitol, 4202.

MS. BANE: Thank you for your interest.

COMMISSIONER ROSE: Thank you for your interest.

And we do apologize for canceling the meeting down here before. If anybody came and was inconvenienced, we're sorry about that. But we did come back.

Thank you for taking the time to come.

MS. BANE: Off the record.

(Thereupon, at 10:08 a.m., the public

hearing was adjourned.)
