INITIAL STATEMENT OF REASONS

INFORMATIVE DIGEST OF PROPOSED ACTION/PLAIN ENGLISH OVERVIEW

Currently there are no existing requirements pertaining to maintenance of the outer sheath of a flexible cord. A new Section 2500.25 is proposed which would require employers to repair or replace cords if the outer sheath is damaged such that the conductors or their insulation are exposed. It would also require the repairs to maintain the original integrity of the cord. The proposed Section 2500.25 would require employers to repair or replace cords if applicable damage is found.
