2000 PROPOSED RULEMAKING SCHEDULED FOR UPCOMING PUBLIC HEARINGS

Pursuant to Government Code Section 11346.4 and the provisions of Labor Code Sections 142.1, 142.2, and 142.3, the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board has set the time and place for a Public Hearing. At the Public Hearing, the Board will consider public testimony on the proposed changes noticed below to occupational safety and health regulations in Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations.

After proceedings held in accordance with and pursuant to authority vested in Sections 142, 142.3 and 142.4 of the Labor Code to implement, interpret, or make specific, the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board, by a majority vote, adopted additions, revisions or deletions to the California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Chapter 4, as follows:

1. Title 8, General Industry Safety Orders, Sections 3404 and 3408(d), Face Shields and Toe Protection for Structural Firefighters.

Heard at the August 19, 1999, Public Hearing; adopted on January 20, 2000; filed with the Secretary of State on March 6, 2000; and will become effective on April 5, 2000.

2. Title 8, General Industry Safety Orders, Section 5157, 5158, and 5416; and Ship Building, Ship Repairing, and Ship Breaking Safety Orders, Section 8355, Approved Testing Equipment.

Heard at the October 21, 1999, Public Hearing; adopted on February 17, 2000; filed with the Secretary of State on March 23, 2000; and will become effective on April 22, 2000.

3. Title 8, Elevator Safety Orders, Sections 3089(d) and 3091(k), Elevators and Walkways.

Heard at the March 18, 1999, Public Hearing; adopted on November 18, 1999; filed with the Secretary of State on March 13, 2000; and will become effective on April 1, 2000.
