OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Summary of CITY OF LA DEPT. WATER/POWER - DAR
Employer posted a high-voltage warning sign on a locked door to a room where parts that were energized to 4,800 volts were enclosed in metal cabinets that bore no warning signs. The Division cited Employer under section 2811, which requires warning signs, "on all doors or gates that provide access to enclosures containing [high voltage] exposed energized parts and conductors." The doors on the individual metal cabinets in the room provided direct access to the exposed parts and conductors enclosed therein. In this context "access to enclosures" means entering the enclosures so as to cause exposure to the hazard. Employer violated section 2811 by not posting H-V warnings on the metal cabinet doors.
