NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

of the

INDUSTRIAL WELFARE COMMISSION



January 28, 2000

In accordance with and in furtherance of the "Eight-Hour-Day Restoration and Workplace Flexibility Act of 1999," commonly known as AB 60, as well as Labor Code §1181, the Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) is considering the adoption of an Interim Wage Order at a public hearing to be held on January 28, 2000, in Sacramento, at the State Capitol, Room 4203, commencing at 10:00 a.m.

 

AGENDA

 

1.      Approval of the minutes.

 

2.      Discussion regarding the issue of whether the duties of advanced practice nurses would grant them an exemption.

 

3.      Consideration of the Draft Interim Wage Order distributed at the public hearing held on December 15, 1999. 

 

Commission procedures:

·        The public is requested to provide written comments in advance of this upcoming hearing, addressed to the IWC at 1121 L Street, Suite 307, Sacramento, CA  95814.

·        The IWC may limit the time allotted to any individual who wishes to address the commission.

·        The IWC, based on its review of issues contained in AB 60, including but not limited to, public comment by way of testimony at public meetings and/or hearings, and by other means of communication with the commission, will proceed to consider the adoption of the Draft Interim Wage Order.

·        Amendments thereto may be offered and, if voted upon and approved by a majority of the commissioners when a quorum is present, shall be included as part of the Draft Interim Wage Order.

·        The IWC may, by a majority vote of commissioners when a quorum is present, approve an Interim Wage Order, including an effective date, along with a statement to the basis and a summary of the Order.
