NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND MEETING

OF THE

INDUSTRIAL WELFARE COMMISSION

MARCH 2, 2001

In accordance with Labor Code Sections 1173, 1178 and 1178.5, the Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) will hold a public meeting on March 2, 2001, which will include a public hearing regarding whether the hours or conditions of labor may be prejudicial to the health, morale, or welfare of personal attendants covered by Wage Order No.5, and whether a wage board should be convened to consider the matter further. In addition, if the wage board for sheepherders has completed its work, the IWC may prepare proposed regulations amending Wage Order No. 14. The proposed regulations, if any, will be submitted for public comment for one or more public hearings in the future. The meeting will be held in Sacramento, at the State Capitol, Room 3191, commencing at 10:00 a.m.

AGENDA

1. Approval of minutes.

2. Investigation of wages, hours and conditions of labor of personal attendants in order to determine if a wage board should be instituted.

3. If the work of the sheepherders wage board is complete, consideration of proposals for comment at a future public hearing.

4. Any further business that may come before the commission.

In order for the IWC to provide an opportunity for interested parties to speak at the public hearings, the amount of time within which each speaker will be allowed to address the IWC may be limited. Accordingly, the public is urged to submit written statements to the IWC concerning items on the agenda.
