The 1996 edition of DWC's Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS), used for billing medical treatment under workers' compensation, is now available. The revised schedule, which contains a number of changes from the 1994 edition, must be used for all medical treatment provided injured workers on or after January 1, 1996.
Those who purchased the 1994 edition will be automatically receiving the 1996 version, and will be asked to only pay a shipping and handling charge. The OMFS was thoroughly revised in 1994. Since then it has been based on the "Comprehensive Procedural Terminology (CPT)," a standardized coding system developed by the American Medical Association and used by most non-workers' compensation health care providers. The changes in the 1996 version primarily address issues which arose after the implementation of the major changes contained in the 1994 version of the fee schedule.Official Medical Fee Schedule
