Emergency regulations revising Physician Services Fee schedule (Table A) to take effect on Jan. 14, 2005
The Division of Workers' Compensation's (DWC) emergency regulations making changes to the Physician Services Fee Schedule (Table A) within the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS), filed with the Office of Administrative Law on Dec. 8, 2004, will not take effect 10 days after filing, as previously announced. The regulations will instead take effect on Jan. 14, 2005. The additional time before their effective date is designed to give providers and payers in the workers' compensation system lead time in which to program for the changes. The text of the regulations can be found at: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/dwcpropregs/OMFSEmerRegs2TableA.htm
The regulations revise the fees for 17 procedure codes within
the physical medicine section of the OMFS by eliminating the five percent
reduction. These changes are consistent with DWC's intent with regard to the
five percent reduction for other physical medicine procedures.
The regulations also add a five percent reduction to three procedure codes in the surgery section, which were inadvertently omitted from earlier versions of the Table A.
The regulations also make corrections of typographical and arithmetical errors in a number of other procedure codes, mostly in the radiology and pathology sections of Table A.
The Office of Administrative Law has filed these regulations
with the Secretary of State. Permanent regulations must be filed within 120
days of the effective date of the emergency regulations.
