A report of a study on the anticipated impact of the fee schedule for pharmaceuticals mandated in Senate Bill 228, enacted in September 2003, has been posted to the DWC web site. The study, conducted by the University of California, San Francisco, surveyed pharmacists and insurers to determine their expected responses to the new schedule, which sets reimbursements for pharmaceuticals at 100 percent of Medi-Cal. The report also makes recommendations for pharmacy contract standards.
The new schedule went into effect on Jan. 1, 2004. DWC is analyzing the report and its implications for pharmacy regulation. In the meantime, DWC's highest priority is implementing Senate Bill 899.
