Division of Workers’ Compensation appoints additional members to medical treatment guideline advisory committee

The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) has appointed three additional members to its Medical Evidence Evaluation Advisory Committee (MEEAC), which will meet on Nov. 15. 

“We will benefit from the expertise of these accomplished health care providers,” said DWC Executive Medical Director Dr. Rupali Das. “Our multidisciplinary committee is now complete and we can begin the work of improving medical treatment guidelines.”

The advisory committee meets quarterly under the guidance of the DWC executive medical director, and uses the hierarchy of evidence in the division’s medical treatment utilization schedule to evaluate medical evidence and recommend revisions to existing guidelines, or to develop new guidelines. The DWC Administrative Director (AD) is responsible for the adoption of treatment guidelines contained in the Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule, which is set forth in California Code of Regulations, Title 8, sections 9792.20-9792.26.
