Division of Workers’ Compensation hosts electronic filing expo in Oakland tomorrow
The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC), in conjunction with its vendor partners, will host an electronic filing expo in Oakland on Thursday, Dec. 1. The event is free and anyone interested in e-filing is encouraged to attend.
Electronic filing is the fastest way to get documents into EAMS, DWC’s electronic case management system for the workers’ compensation courts. There are two ways to file electronically: e-forms and JET File. JET File is best for large-volume filers, while e-forms are better for small to medium filers; however, JET File is now open to all filers. The Dec. 1 expo will provide information about, and demonstrations of, both filing methods.
Filers looking for faster, easier and more cost-effective alternatives to paper forms are encouraged to attend this electronic filing expo:
Thursday, Dec. 1
10 a.m.-noon (morning session)
1-3 p.m. (afternoon session)
Elihu M. Harris Building
Room 1, 2nd Floor
1515 Clay St., Oakland, CA 94612
No registration is necessary. Filers can drop in any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program will repeat through the day. There will be an hour lunch break from noon until 1 p.m.
This is the third e-filing expo hosted by DWC, following events in Los Angeles and Van Nuys, but the first in Northern California, where the division has 10 of its 24 offices.
“This is a great opportunity for filers in the Bay Area and north counties to get a close look at their electronic options,” said Mark Fudem, acting associate chief judge for EAMS. “The expo will give them a chance to ask questions and get answers, and they can sign up to e-file on the spot.”
The expo will include:
More e-filing expos are being planned. Following Oakland, the next will be in Santa Ana on Thursday, January 19, 2012. For more information, email EAMS@dir.ca.gov.
