Division of Workers' Compensation accepting nominations for 2012 Carrie Nevans Community Service Awards
The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC), a division of the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), is now accepting nominations for its 2012 Carrie Nevans Community Service Awards. The awards will be presented at the 19 th annual educational conferences in February and March 2012. The annual community service award was renamed in the memory and honor of Carrie Nevans, the acting administrative director who passed away in February 2011.
“This is an award to recognize and acknowledge those champions whose extraordinary efforts support the workers’ compensation system for the betterment of injured workers and employers,” said DWC Administrative Director Rosa Moran.
Nominations should be made for those individuals who have made significant contributions to the betterment of the workers’ compensation community in the highest professional manner. DWC will evaluate the nominations and honor one Southern California recipient in Los Angeles and one Northern California recipient in Oakland during an award ceremony at the educational conference luncheons.
Attorney Robert Rassp received the first community service award in 2010 in recognition of his efforts as "an exemplary educator and volunteer." In 2011, Jesse Ceniceros of Voters Injured at Work (VIAW), and Dori Rose Inda of the Workers’ Compensation Enforcement Collaborative (WCEC), were the two award winners.
Nominations may be submitted using the DWC nomination form and must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Jan. 13, 2012.
