Division of Workers' Compensation issues amended first 15-day notice of revisions to electronic medical treatment billing and standardized paper medical billing regulations
The Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) issued modified proposed regulations to adopt standardized paper medical treatment billing forms and electronic medical billing standards on Jan. 6, 2011. It has since come to the division's attention that a technical error in assembling the medical billing and payment guide resulted in omission of the first page of the "2.1 Field Table UB-04" (for institutional billing) and the first page of the "3.1 Field Table NCPDP" (for paper pharmacy billing). The first page of "3.1 Field Table NCPDP" contains a proposed substantive revision; the first page of the "2.1 Field Table UB-04" does not.
An amended 15-day notice of modification to text of proposed regulations has been issued. The only substantive changes from the Jan. 6, 2011 proposal are extension of the comment period and addition of page one of the pharmacy paper bill table.
The notice, corrected medical billing and payment guide, the electronic medical billing and payment companion guide and the text of regulations can be found at http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/DWCPropRegs/Ebilling/EBilling_Regulations.htm.
