Division of Workers' Compensation participates in 10th binational health week events
Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) representatives will participate in binational health week (BHW), one of the largest mobilization efforts of federal and state government agencies, community-based organizations and volunteers in the Americas to improve the health and well-being of underserved Latino populations living in the United States and Canada. BHW encompasses a weeklong series of health promotion and health education activities that include workshops, insurance referrals, vaccinations and medical screenings.
DWC Information and Assistance Officers Etta Morales, Lucela Gonzales and Silvia Gutierrez will represent DWC at the San Diego, San Bernardino and Salinas health fairs. The events will take place:
Tuesday, Oct. 5
8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
San Diego Mexican Consulate
1549 India Street
San Diego, CA
Saturday, Oct. 9
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
San Bernardino Mexican Consulate
293 North D Street
San Bernardino, CA
Sunday, Oct. 10
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Alisal Community Healthy Start Center

Participation in the BHW represents another vital step in the DWC’s plan to reach out to workers where they live, in ways that are meaningful to them, to provide information about their rights should they become hurt or sick because of work. The DWC also conducts Spanish-language seminars around the state to help employees navigate the workers’ compensation system. More information on these seminars, along with Spanish-language fact sheets and guides for injured workers can be found on the DWC Web site.
