Ambulance fee schedule update to conform to Medicare inflation adjustment is posted on DWC Web site
The administrative director has adopted an order adjusting the ambulance services section of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) to conform to a change in the Medicare payment system as required by Labor Code section 5307.1. The increase will be effective for services rendered on or after Jan. 1, 2009, for ambulance services paid for under the California workers' compensation OMFS. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) adopted an ambulance inflation factor of 5 percent for ambulance services on or after Jan. 1, 2009. Under the order, all rates shown in the ambulance fee schedule public use file, revised on Oct. 1, 2008, are to be increased by 5 percent for services on or after Jan. 1, 2009. CMS will publish the 2009 ambulance fee schedule public use file, incorporating the 5 percent increase. After CMS publishes the 2009 ambulance fee schedule public use file, the rates in that file will be used, without the additional adjustment of 5 percent.
