Division of Workers' Compensation posts medical billing standards and electronic billing regulations to online forum for public comment
The Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has posted its proposed medical billing standards and electronic billing regulations to an online forum where members of the public may review and comment on the proposal. The proposed regulations will streamline medical treatment billing and payment, creating efficiencies for the parties and facilitating prompt payment of bills.
The proposed changes are in the California Code of Regulations, Title 8, section 9792.5 et seq., and are intended to implement Labor Code section 4603.4, which requires the administrative director to adopt rules to establish standardized medical treatment billing forms and adopt standard protocols for electronic billing of medical treatment.
The DWC obtained valuable input from the workers’ compensation community through advisory committee meetings in the process of developing the proposal.
