California Division of Workers' Compensation reissues request for proposals to update physician fee schedule
The Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) intends to revise its workers' compensation physician fee schedule to incorporate the methodology used in the Resource-Based Relative Value Scale (RBRVS), which is maintained by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its Medicare Fee Schedule. The department seeks to hire a contractor to analyze data and develop policy options that may serve as a basis for the revision.
A request for proposals for the RBRVS study was previously issued on Apr. 12, 2007 (DIR/DWC RFP #06-002). However, the RFP #06-002 solicitation process was cancelled on July 10, 2007 due to a concern that the RFP may not be in compliance with state contracting policy.
"We want the contract to immediately move forward once we get it in place so we felt it was better to fine-tune the language now," said DWC acting Administrative Director Carrie Nevans.
