2012 WCIS Advisory Meeting
The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) will be holding the annual WCIS Advisory Meeting on May 14, 2012 in the Elihu Harris State Building at 1515 Clay Street in Oakland, California. The meeting is tentatively scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. A detailed agenda and registration materials will be distributed shortly.
2010 and 2011 Timeliness Reports
The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) will be mailing letters in April to claims administrators at their adjusting locations containing two sets of reports: the timeliness of temporary disability (TD) payments for claims reported to the WCIS and the timeliness of FROI claims reporting to the WCIS. These reports cover claims reported to claims administrators in 2010 and 2011. The timeliness of TD payments report for each claims administrator will be published on the WCIS website later this year.
Submission of SROI ANs
Periodic annual reports (ANs) were due January 31. Please be sure they are submitted by March 31, as DWC will be extracting the FROI SROI data from WCIS used to compare counts between the WCIS and the ARI (Audit Unit’s Annual Report of Inventory) in early April.
WCIS FTP transmission requirement
As noted in WCIS eNews 86, beginning June 18, 2012, the only transmission options for both FROI/SROI and medical data reports will be via a secure FTP site hosted by the WCIS. Files must be transmitted using FTPS (FTP over SSL, RFC4217). In addition, trading partners may optionally use PGP (Pretty Good Privacy, RFC4880) to encrypt the files before transmission. The WCIS FTP host is ready for beta testing with all FROI/SROI trading partners and any medical trading partners who are currently sending via plain FTP and PGP. Medical trading partners who are already utilizing FTPS transmission will not need to make any changes. Trading partners must switch to the new transmission method before June 18. Please contact your WCIS trading partner contact to begin the transition. Trading partners that send data through an EDI vendor should verify that their vendor will be ready to transmit to the WCIS FTP host by June 18. After June 18, we will no longer accept data sent via any other transmission methods, such as email and VANs.
