Implementation guide changes

The Division of Workers' Compensation has been working for over 18 months with a task force of trading partners and other industry stakeholders to create consensus regarding the appropriate business and technical rules for DWC to use to collect detailed medical billing data from claims administrators. This work has been completed. DWC also has concluded a review of its FROI/SROI implementation guide and made appropriate changes to the IG to incorporate recommendations made by trading partners and other stakeholders over the past few years.

These new Implementation Guide regulations currently are out for a further 15-day public review and comment period, which ends January 5, 2006. DWC requests and appreciates your review and comment on these proposals. The revised California EDI Implementation Guide for First and Subsequent Reports of Injury and draft California EDI Implementation Guide for Medical Bill Payment Records are available for viewing at the link below: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/DWCPropRegs/WCIS_Regulations/WCIS_regulations.htm

FYI: Appendix B of the FROI/SROI IG has been updated to show the latest changes to the guide. The most significant changes to the FROI/SROI guide include:
