WCIS FROI/SROI Training Bulletins
The California Workers’ Compensation Information System (WCIS) First and Subsequent Reports of Injury (FROI/SROI) database is a large and complex dataset with millions of transactions a year; 24 percent of which are either rejected (TR) or accepted with error (TE). These FROI/SROI errors lower the quality of the WCIS dataset and increase costs for both the Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) and its Trading Partners.
In an effort to reduce the percentage of transactions receiving TRs and TEs, DWC will be issuing training bulletins outlining some of the most common errors. The first edition which covers invalid FEIN errors will be sent out today. An archive of the bulletins will be available on the WCIS website.
SROI Annual Reports
Periodic annual reports (ANs) are due by January 31 of each year. The AN must be sent for any claim with any payment in any benefit category in the previous calendar year. The only exception to this rule is for claims where there is no further benefit activity after the final (FN) report has been accepted and the FN included all the indemnity and/or non-indemnity benefit data. See WCIS eNews 63 for more details on AN reporting. In order to carry out the research necessary to help DWC manage the workers’ compensation system, it is vital that trading partners submit timely and accurate data.
