Boynton Act: 100 Year History of CA Workers’ Compensation
In 1913 the Legislature passed the Boynton Act with its effective in 1914. The Act changed workers’ compensation to a compulsory program, strengthened the powers of the Industrial Accident Commission (the predecessor of DWC) to administer this program, prescribed safety regulations, among other things. This session will recap the 100 year history of workers’ compensation in California.
