Do I have to record a positive TB skin test result obtained at a pre-employment physical?

Answer
No, because the employee was not occupationally exposed to a known case of active tuberculosis in your workplace.

Question 
Can a recorded TB case be lined-out or erased if evidence is obtained that it was not caused by an occupational exposure?

Answer
Yes, if the employee :

• lives in a household with a person who has been diagnosed with active TB, or
• is identified by the Public Health Department as a contact of an individual with a case of active TB unrelated to the workplace, or
• shows that the infection was caused by a TB exposure away from work, or
• proves that the case was not related to a workplace TB exposure.
