Department of Industrial Relations representatives available for interviews
on agricultural workplaces
Event -In honor of Cesar Chavez Day, wage, hour, safety and health experts from the Department of Industrial Relations will be available to discuss the workplace rights of agricultural employees.
Date, time and location
March 25 through April 1. Specific times and locations can be arranged.
Special information
Agricultural production is one of the four most hazardous industries in California
and is one in which the largely Latino, immigrant workforce has historically
been exploited. In spite of these facts, the Department of Industrial Relations
receives few complaints from agricultural workers. That's why Cal/OSHA, the
state's premier safety and health agency, and the Division of Labor Standards
Enforcement (DLSE) are reaching out to agricultural workers to help them understand
their rights in situations they face every day. Informed workers are better
able to stick up for themselves and demand proper treatment.
